University Centre sports students visit Finland

Last month, four lucky sports students at the University Centre visited the Finnish Institute for Sport and Olympic Training Centre in Vierumaki on a three week placement.

As part of the national ‘Schools on the Move’ project, students had a unique opportunity to be involved in coaching camps and working in Finnish primary schools. They enjoyed delivering physical education (PE) lessons and getting a real taster of working in the industry whilst experiencing a different culture.

Tutor, Adam Brown, said: "We have been running this trip to Finland for over 10 years and this one has been just as successful as the previous ones.

“The students had access to Olympic standard training facilities and experienced activities such as curling and cross country skiing as well as working with the Finnish national talent cycling squad on their annual talent camp.”

Previous trips for the University Centre sports students have included Austria and Sweden.

This placement was funded by the Erasmus+ programme
