Tutor becomes a semi-professional footballer for Hyde United FC
Coaching tutor for Public Services and semi-professional footballer, Karl Jones has been playing football from a very young age, “I got into football when I was in primary school and joined the Huddersfield team at seven.” At school, Karl particularly enjoyed sports and the majority of his friends and peers were also into football. He previously played for Glossop North End until the end of the season in 2017 and was recently head hunted by the manager at Hyde United FC and signed with the team in June 2017.
“I really enjoy playing football and hope to continue playing until it’s time to hang up my boots.”
Karl is having a great first season with his new team and was on TV when Hyde United FC played during the FA cup, “playing on TV was a great experience for us and we worked hard as a team.” Being a semi-professional footballer requires dedication as Karl often trains twice a week and plays at least once a week. “Having a supportive team at the college makes being a coaching tutor and semi-professional footballer manageable.”
Karl values being able to work closely and proactively, delivering a hands on approach to learning. “I enjoy delivering tutorial sessions the most because I can cover crucial topics with students whilst learning more about their backgrounds, understanding their views and supporting them to achieve their goals and aspirations.”
