Students get arty at Deershed Festival

Family friendly festival, Deer Shed, kicked off successfully at the weekend and was filled with music, comedy and an array of activities, with Leeds City College playing a big part in the fun-filled event.

The college’s Creative Arts department has for the past three years been involved with the festival, running workshops as well as selling original pieces produced by the team.

The students offered a series of services that included graphics for digital print, screen printing, ceramics and makeup. Last year their beautiful, limited-edition Wilderwild wolf poster was very popular and made the perfect souvenir. This year, they returned with something equally as creative with over 300 bespoke posters being printed.

The Arty Stuff team produced a marine mural and for three days, attendees had the opportunity to show off their artistic skills and helped create the masterpiece for the prestigious Deer Shed Gallery.

Meanwhile, topping the bill on the music stages this year were electronic duo Goldfrapp, rockers Drenge and Supergrass lead singer Gaz Coombes, giving the students time to enjoy themselves after a long day of work.

Deer Shed’s 10th anniversary celebration will take place from 26-28 July 2019. Early bird tickets will be available from 10am on 6 September at www.deershedfestival.com/tickets
