Leeds City College has teamed up with football academy, i2i, a leading development programme in Yorkshire, to allow sports students to nurture their skills further.
From August 2018, learners will have the opportunity to train and play matches at the West Riding County FA’s Headquarters at Woodlesford’s excellent facilities.
With i2i graduates Ronaldo Vieira, Romario Vieira and Alfie Beestin living in Leeds, the academy is confident that they can develop many more stars in the city.
Head of the i2i Football Academy Michael Morton, said: “It’s great to see that our previous success in York has attracted attention from Leeds City College. We are confident we will replicate this success and win further titles.”
Anthony Gallagher from Leeds City College, said: “We are extremely happy to be working with i2i. We believe that by working together, we can develop a strong football and education programme for players in the Leeds area.
“A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to make this happen and we are ready to commence the recruitment process now.”
i2i Technical Director and former Leeds United striker Richard Cresswell will also be involved with the partnership. He said: “We are delighted to be working with Leeds City College.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for any young footballer wanting to develop both on and off the field.”
i2i Chief Executive Officer Matthew Gore, said: “We are all thrilled to announce our partnership with Leeds City College.
“We have always had an interest in operating out of Leeds and this is the perfect opportunity to do so. It’s a fantastic chance for players in Leeds and the surrounding areas to receive first class education and football coaching. We look forward to extending the i2i family and seeing further success.”
i2i has an established relationship with Leeds United and this is a brilliant opportunity to continue and further our work in the city of Leeds.
