Leeds Rhinos Category 3 Academy Launch
Leeds Rhinos to launch brand new College Rugby League ‘Cat 3 Academy’ with Leeds City College.
The Category 3 Academy programme has been developed to allow 16-18 year old learners to combine their academic studies at the college with participation in the Rhinos’ world class Rugby League performance programme and pathway. It will be the first of it’s kind in the city with an aim to provide all students the chance to access another pathway to high level sport development. The new enterprise is perfect opportunity for community players with a desire to progress, athletes from other sports with the transferable skills to be successful, and players exiting scholarships and other professional performance programmes.
Group and individualised strength and conditioning sessions, video analysis, nutrition are among the many facets of the Rhinos Academy system to be incorporated and will be held across a range of high quality facilities including the Rhinos Rugby Academy complex in Kirkstall.
Students interested in enrolling on the programme will be able to attend a programme launch evening on Tuesday 23rd April at the new Emerald Headingley Stadium. Here potential student athletes will be addressed by The Leeds Rhinos Director of Rugby Kevin Sinfield, be introduced to the Rhinos performance team, take part in a practical training sessions on the pitch and the Leeds City College course leaders will be on hand to field any queries regarding the academic aspects of the programme.
6.30pm Meet and presentation about the programme in the Lewis Jones Suite at Emerald Headingley Stadium.
7.00pm – 8.15pm - Practical training session on the pitch for potential players.
7.15 – 8.15pm Presentation to parents about the club and college partnership and courses available.
8.15pm – Register interest in joining the Cat 3
8.30 - Depart
