Student profile: Amra Farhan

Amra Farhan studied the FE Direct course at Leeds City College after working as a lunchtime supervisor for a local primary school.

She realised that her role wasn’t challenging enough, and she wanted to do something that would utilise her knowledge and develop her skills further.

Amra explains: “As much as I enjoyed my job, I wanted to aim higher and achieve better opportunities for my future. Luckily, I spotted an advert for a maths trainee teaching course at Leeds City College and decided it would be the perfect fit for me.

“I had an interview and met my tutor, who explained what the course would entail, along with useful information on life as a Leeds City College student.

“During the course, I was taught by qualified and experienced tutors who helped at each and every step of the way.  I learnt various teaching techniques that helped me adapt according to the needs of the learners.”

Amra is now working as a maths tutor, teaching functional skills and GCSE students.

She continued: “This course has opened up new career doors for me and I shall always appreciate the support of my tutors and family members who supported me throughout the course.”
