Former student and Police Officer shares his story
Former Leeds City College student, Mohammed Iftikhar, tells us his story on how he reached his goals of becoming a Police Officer:
“Throughout my childhood, my ambition was always to work for the Police. I therefore enrolled on to the BTEC First Diploma in Public Services course at Leeds City College. Having completed this successfully, I moved onto the BTEC National Diploma course which I also achieved.
“Studying Public Services gave me an insight into policing and increased my interests in joining West Yorkshire Police. Whilst studying the course, I learnt many skills that ascertained a recognised qualification.
“This gave me the foundation I needed to persue an application to the Police Service. Having been successful in completing all the stages of the recruitment process, I am now a serving Community Officer and have been for the past 8 years.
“I thoroughly enjoy my job and not one day is the same. Since being employed in this role, I have learnt many new skills that have helped develop me as a person. Skills that will be useful to me in all walks of life.”
