Cameron’s story

Cameron came to the UK as an unaccompanied asylum seeker and is a ‘Child Looked After' under the care of Leeds Social Work Services and is living in a supported lodgings placement. The student speaks English as an additional language and first studied ESOL last year at entry level. He successfully progressed to Level 1 Creative Arts. He receives a Guaranteed Vulnerable Bursary, where he gets a bus pass and meal vouchers by curriculum.

Cameron would not have been able to attend college without support from the funds. His attendance for maths and English GCSE is 100% and 98% for his Creative Arts course. Tutors have contacted his social worker directly with congratulations of “excellent progress that he is making”. The student has taken up several enrichment activities offered by the Get Active Team including table tennis, boxing and basketball.
