Students cook up a storm for food competition

23rd March 2020

Three students have been selected for the UK Young Restaurant Team of the Year 2020 final on Wednesday 1 July. These students are currently studying Hospitality Supervision and Leadership, Professional Patisserie and Confectionery and Advanced Professional Cookery.

In its ninth year, the awards celebrate aspiring teams of chefs from across the country who are passionate in producing fine dining.

This years’ theme of French Gastronomy encourages competitors to indulge the judges in rich, traditional cuisine oozing with cultural heritage. From perfect pastries to beautiful baguettes, the ten teams will be tantalising taste buds to win first place with the panel of judges and special guest judge Pierre Koffmann.

Andrew Bennett, chair of the Craft Guild of Chefs, said: “This competition goes from strength to strength and this years’ theme will certainly test the chefs and front of house competitors.”

Good luck team Leeds City College. Bon appetit!
