Quarry Hill National Conversation Day

18th March 2020

Play on words at Quarry Hill

As part of National Conversation Week (16-22 March), students are encouraged to move away from technology and get thinking about the meanings behind the powerful words painted on the Quarry Hill pillars.

Local sign writer Kieran Hadley created a series of quirky designs for thought-provoking words which are visible throughout the campus. The words are from other languages and don’t have a direct English translation. They aim to communicate the college’s values in an eye-catching way to provoke curiosity among students.

Students are encouraged to think about and discuss concepts behind the words, through finding out what the word means and how to express it in English.

Keep updated for the word meanings on Leeds City College social media platforms, which will be revealed on Friday 20 March!
