The exciting BA (Hons) Fashion, Theatrical, Hair and Media Make Up programme has been designed to offer students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the sector.  

Students will investigate and explore a range of contexts enabling them to define their own creative identity, building on core professional skills required by the industry.

The overall aim of the programme is to create professional graduates who are confident about entering the industry, with a clear vision on what they want to achieve.

How you will be assessed

A range of assessment methods will be used throughout the BA (Hons) Fashion, Theatrical, Hair and Media Make-up qualification. Close industry links with Prime Studios will enable students to gain access to guest speakers holding a deep understanding of the overall sector, thus giving students an excellent source of information in addition to exposure to one of the main production studios in the region.

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

The course is delivered at the University Centre our dedicated higher education site situated next to the Park Lane Campus. The programme will also be delivered from our industry training room situated at Prime Studios. This facility gives students the opportunity to carry out practical work whilst in the setting of one of the major production studios in Leeds. This gives students fantastic networking opportunities and the chance to see and experience working in a production studio.

Entry requirements

Foundation Degree in a fashion/hair and media make up subject or a Higher National Diploma in a fashion/hair and media make up -related subject based on a 50% or above profile. For students below this profile a suitable tutor reference will be required.

International qualifications will be assessed against these criteria. Speakers of other languages need to have an IELTS score of at least 6.5 or a recognised level 2 English qualification.

We welcome applications from candidates who may not precisely match the academic criteria, but can demonstrate experience in their chosen field as well as academic achievement at level 5. Candidates in this category will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course and asked to provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application.

All students must be able to demonstrate by a portfolio of work, qualifications or testing that they have the required literacy, numeracy and practical skills to complete the course.

Additional Costs

To support you with practical aspects of course, you will be given a professional prosthetics kit and LCC uniform.

To ensure that you obtain the best deal possible, for industry recognised professional branded quality products that will set you up in your future career, your kit will be ordered through the College. It is estimated that a full industry standard kit will cost in the region of £450.

As we recognise this is a lot of money to pay upfront at the start of your course, we have made arrangements for you to be able to apply for this cost to be added to your tuition fee loan from Student Finance England,  which would mean that your loan would be for £7,700. If taking this option please note that your kit can only be issued to you once proof of your loan is received by the college.

Optional expenses may include:

  • £10 professional photoshoots at the end of practical assessments
  • Any additional resources individual to own projects

There are various areas of specialism that a student could progress into such as Fashion and Photographic, Special effects, Prosthetic, TV and Film, Theatre.
