The events industry is currently worth £42.3 bn in the UK and supports over 570,000 jobs.  Studying Event Management can lead to an exciting and rewarding career. You will need a blend of creative and technical skills, essential for the creation and delivery of any live experience (be that a wedding, festival, private party, sporting event, conference or meeting).  You will develop the core skills needed to excel in all kinds of events and start to build a specialism which will guide you in your future career. Ultimately, you’ll experience an exceptional learning environment, with supportive academic staff who have business experience and a close knit student community.  The course includes real experience in event management with participation in events, and the opportunity to work in a team to develop their own event. There will also be trips to venues and events. Ultimately this course will enable you to develop as a person and achieve your potential through learning and experience.

Where is the course delivered

This course will be delievered at the University Centre at Leeds City College

Students will be given Chromebooks which will enable them to have access to a range of facilities to enable off site/home study

Entry requirements

Typical offer:

A Levels: 2xD grades 

BTEC L3 Diploma or Extended Diploma: MP, MPP grade 

Access to HE Diploma: Overall pass with 60 credits, with 24 credits to be at a Merit grade in a relevant subject

GCSE English: English Language Grade C or above (grade 4 for those sitting their GCSE from 2017 onwards). Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy are accepted in place of GCSEs.

IELTS: IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any component.

International qualifications: International qualifications will be assessed against these criteria.

Mature applicants: Leeds City College welcomes applications from mature* applicants who may not have met the academic criteria, but who can demonstrate a wealth of experience in their chosen field. Candidates in this category and otherwise are likely to be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course and may be asked to provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application.

APL claims: The course structure actively supports claims for Accreditation of Prior Certified Learning (APL).

Interviews / audition: A successful interview may be required.

You may be required to undertake a DBS check (dependant on event profile) where a charge of £25 may apply.
