You will develop a wide range of skills that will benefit you in a career in sport. These will include:
Students wishing to enrol to a Level 1 programme will come with a range of qualifications which could include GCSEs, units of qualifications already taken or have few or no qualifications.
All students on Level 1 programmes will be required to take qualifications in Personal and Social Development, Employability Skills, a vocational qualification and Maths and English. Each student will be invited to an interview where a personalised learning programme can be discussed and agreed.
In all cases offers will be subject to interview/transition gateway and a positive reference from school/tutor
All applicants must have a genuine interest in working in sport, be prepared to participate in physical activities, work in a team, overcome personal challenges and have an enthusiastic approach to learning.
To work with children (under 18) or vulnerable adults students you will need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application. The college will organise this for you, but you may have to pay. The estimated cost of the check is £44. Full details regarding payment and documents required will be provided prior to enrolment.
There is the opportunity to be involved in the Colleges Sports Academies and there will be a number of residential trips taking place throughout the year.
This course is delivered at our Park Lane Campus.
A pass in this course and an improvement in English and Maths can lead onto a level 2 programme including; Sport Studies, Operational Services or Fitness Instructors in the Sports Department. Students can also apply for a level two programme in different department in college. Students may also progress onto an apprenticeship.
