This course is delivered at Quarry Hill Campus.
Students wishing to enrol to a Level 1 Learning programme will come with a range of qualifications which could include GCSE's, units of qualifications already taken or have few or no qualifications. All students will be required to develop skills in Personal and Social Development, Employability, a vocational qualification and Maths, English and ICT.
Each student will be invited to an interview where a personalised learning programme can be discussed and agreed. All candidates must be committed to working in the Health, Social Care or Childcare sector, be caring, creative and energetic, have a sense of humour and a lively and outgoing personality.
To work with children (under 18) or vulnerable adults, students will need to complete an enhanced disclosure check for the Disclosure and Barring Services. The college will organise this for you but if your course is not fully funded i.e: if you are not 16-18 or on certain benefits then you may have to pay. The estimated cost of the enhanced DBS check is £54. Full details regarding payment and documentation will be provided prior to enrolment.
4x grade E/2 in GCSEs
Learners without the grade requirements or international qualifications will be assessed for Literacy and Numeracy levels - you must be able to work towards GCSE level 1

To complete the course successfully you must be able and willing to independently complete a minimum number of social action and/or work experience hours within a relevant health and social care setting.

Apply for an apprenticeship or traineeship in Health and Social Care/Clinical Support Work.
Apply for a level 2 course in Health and Social Care or Childcare.
