• Developing technologies within TV and Film
• Short film production
• Live TV studio production
• Media enterprise
Throughout your course you will work with tutors and technical support staff with a wide range of practical industry experience. Your project work will have a professional context which keeps pace with developing technologies and includes work for both internal and external clients as well college based scenarios.
As part of your course you will develop a professional approach to media production and be both encouraged and supported to create work over and above the qualification requirements, thus preparing you more fully for work in the media industry.
Work experience and enterprise opportunities are a specific part of this course.
This Level 3 qualification is assessed via a combination of internal assessment, where tasks are set and marked by your tutors, and external assessment where tasks are set by BTEC and your response to them is marked by BTEC examiners.
From September 2019 Creative Arts courses will be delivered at our new campus at Quarry Hill.
The course requires you to have 4 A* - C grades at GCSE level, or equivalent BTEC in any subject. If you are part of the new grading system for GCSE we would see a Grade 4 or above as the equivalent of a Grade C in this offer.
Students invariably move on to Foundation Degrees with most securing their first choice university places.
There are also opportunities for media related apprenticeships at Level 3 and above and some students find employment through contacts and opportunities within the course. Students are supported throughout any application procedure and are provided with references and bespoke study plans to facilitate any external work experience opportunities.
There is also a direct progression route within the college onto the department's own Foundation Degree in Film & Screen Media which is currently in development and will launch September 2018.
