You will develop a range of skills that will help you to progress onto university or into a career within the creative industries.
The course is continually assessed with grades of Pass, Merit or Distinction being awarded in each unit of study. Students can therefore take control of how they are progressing on the course and start to ensure they gain the highest possible grades. A final grade which is the equivalent of three A Levels will be awarded upon successful completion of all necessary units.
From September 2019 Creative Arts courses will be delivered at our new campus at Quarry Hill.
If you are part of the new grading system for GCSE we would see a Grade 4 or above as the equivalent of a Grade C in this offer.
Students should have a minimum of five Cs at GCSE or equivalent, including English or Maths. A serious interest in the subject is paramount and our interview process will entail you presenting your own portfolio of previous work, as well as completing a photographic task.
After the successful completion of the Extended Diploma/Diploma in Photography, students can progress to University level study.
Successful students progress to University where, in addition to studying broad-based photography courses, they have also specialised in marine, forensic and fashion photography - in the past students have studied at:
- The Royal Academy of Art . The Hague . Netherlands
- Edinburgh College of Art
- Falmouth University
- Huddersfield University
Those students who go directly into employment from Level 3 will typically start as studio and photographer assistants, as well as working independently on freelance basis.
A Foundation Degree and a BA (Hons) Degree in Photography are offered by Leeds City College.
