Think Graphic Design then think advertising, marketing, branding, web & magazine design, display and illustration. The Graphic Design course introduces you to a broad spectrum of design opportunities and will help you to explore your digital and creative skills in a commercial direction.

As well as developing your professional graphic design skills using adobe creative suite you will also explore traditional techniques such as printing, drawing and painting to prepare a highly personalised portfolio, shown as part of the end of year exhibition in your final year.

How you will be assessed

The course is continually assessed with grades of Pass, Merit or Distinction being awarded in each unit of study. Students can therefore take control of how they are progressing on the course and start to ensure they gain the highest possible grades. A final grade which is the equivalent of three A Levels will be awarded upon successful completion of all necessary units.

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

From September 2019 Creative Arts courses will be delivered at our new campus at Quarry Hill.

Entry requirements

If you are part of the new grading system for GCSE we would see a Grade 4 or above as the equivalent of a Grade C in this offer.

Students should have a minimum of five Cs at GCSE or equivalent including English or maths. A serious interest in the subject is paramount and our interview process will entail you presenting your own portfolio of previous work.

What's next

Successful students progress to university where they can study a range of disciplines that can include Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Marketing, Advertising, Typographic Design, Design & Management, Design for Television, Multimedia Design and Architecture. Those students who go directly into employment from Level 3 will typically start as junior designers within the creative industries.
