Would you like to make computer games?

The Access to computer games aids as complete course to gain skills in games design and development for creative industries and degree courses. The course covers theory and practical skills that develop your understanding and knowledge of the Computer games industry. Units are delivered using industry standard 3D modelling software. You will gain knowledge and skills in how to develop an idea from concept to final 3D models.

The course develops crucial academic skills (such as academic writing, time management, research and referencing) in addition to delivering sound knowledge and understanding of Computer Games and employment related skills. 

On successful completion of the course, you can apply for and progress on to our Foundation Degree in Computer Games or a suitable course at an alternative university. 

If you go on to study Computer Games at a higher level and gain your BSc degree, you will have the fees for your Access course refunded.

How you will be assessed

A range of assessment methods are used, these include written evidence, practical demonstrations, essays and reports. We also gather evidence via tutor and peer observations. All work is internally moderated and externally moderated by assessors from the awarding body GATEWAY.

Where is the course delivered (facilities/classrooms)

The course will be delivered at Technology Campus.

Entry requirements

You don’t need any experience, just software and/or concept arts skills and a willingness to learn. You must be 19 years of age by 1st September in the year the course starts and have achieved GCSEs at grade C Maths and English or equivalent.

What's next

After successful completion of our course you will be able to progress onto our Foundation Degrees in Computer Games or a suitable course at an alternative university.

The foundation degree is the first two years of an Honours degree. You can then complete your Honours degree studying with ourselves by completing one further year.
