Acting Level 3 Extended Diploma

This course will build on your existing acting techniques by developing both vocal and physical skills in order to create characters and different roles within a performance. Explore a range of acting styles, such as naturalism, epic theatre, surrealism, physical theatre and drama improvisation.

You will participate in practical workshops, lectures and performance projects allowing you to develop skills in acting for the camera and stage. We work closely with local and national theatre companies, providing opportunities to experience the different options available in the industry.

The course gives you the opportunity to work on these disciplines and you will work alongside a technical team, costume, hair and make-up students and other students within the performing arts area.

How you will be assessed

This Level 3 qualification is assessed via a combination of internal assessment, where tasks are set and marked by your tutors, and external assessment where tasks are set by BTEC and your response to them is marked by BTEC examiners.

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

From September 2019 Creative Arts courses will be delivered at our new campus at Quarry Hill.

Entry requirements

If you are part of the new grading system for GCSE we would see a Grade 4 or above as the equivalent of a Grade C in this offer.

5 GCSEs A*-C, including English. A level 2 First Diploma at Merit or above and a GCSE grade C in English or a level 2 Functional Skill in English.

An audition is compulsory for entrance onto this course, where you must perform a scripted monologue or a devised piece of around 2 minutes.

Our Acting graduates are currently in a range of continued education and employment including: Mountview, E15, UCLAN, Buckinghamshire University, Southampton University, Chichester, ALRA, Edge Hill University, Arden and many others. We also have many previous students working in industry. The college offers progression onto our Foundation Degree in Performance which a number of our students have undertaken.
