Practical classes and tutorials are delivered over three days of the week, leaving plenty of study-time to complete supporting research and written tasks. Units are delivered through practical performance projects which are assessed through an on-going monitoring of progress with feedback and at the end of each semester these are supported by written tasks. You will also have two externally assessed units; one practical based and one online. Attendance and application to all areas is essential for successful completion.
This Level 2 qualification is assessed via a combination of internal assessment, where tasks are set and marked by your tutors, and external assessment which may include a written exam/test.
From September 2019 Creative Arts courses will be delivered at our new campus at Quarry Hill.
If you are part of the new grading system for GCSE we would see Grades 3 as the equivalent of a Grade D in this offer.
4 D's at GCSE or equivalent. Plus a well-established interest in the performing arts. We ask you to take part in an interview and audition process.
On completion of your course you will have improved your performance skills and have a deeper understanding of this challenging yet exciting industry. You will also have developed your self-confidence, presentation skills, leadership and team-working potential, preparing you for Level 3 study or to enter employment.
Students who have completed these courses have progressed onto Level 3 Performing Arts courses in Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre and Physical Theatre.
We asked our current Level 2 Acting students to feedback on their journey so far. Here is what they said:
"I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to explore different techniques within the course"
"Developing different aspects of acting that will help me in the future to progress to Level 3 Acting"
"I've met lots of new people and had a great time performing with them"
"The tutors have all been so lovely and supportive which has helped me with my confidence and acting skills"
"I've enjoyed working with external organisations such as Space 2 and devising a performance from peoples stories around mental health problems. I now understand the power of using theatre to raise awareness"
Our students have some advice for you if you are thinking of applying:
"Give it your all and don't hold back"
"Enjoy yourself and have fun"
"Keep trying even when things get tough"
"Show what you can do"
