Students will develop a range of skills that will equip them to start a career in the hospitality industry.

You will cover a range of exciting dishes before choosing to specialise upon progression. You will learn the basics of cooking soups, pasta, white fish and chicken. You will also gain a basic introduction to patisserie.

How you will be assessed

Assessment will take place at the end of your programme in both a theory and practical.  Support will be given throughout the year in readiness for this. 

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

The course is delivered in our practical training kitchens at the Printworks Campus.  


Entry requirements

A relevant level 1 qualification and at least one GCSE in English or maths at grade 4. You will also need a strong interest in working as a chef.

What's next

Students can progress on to a full-time professional cookery or patisserie level 3 qualification, an apprenticeship, or relevant employment.
