What you learn

Apprenticeship themes:

• Menu development, costing and seasonality

• Food hygiene and Health & Safety

• Food ingredients - including meat, poultry, fish and vegetables

• Food preparation and cooking techniques 

• Teamwork - including how to be an effective member of the team

How you will be assessed

You will be assessed at the end of your programme which will include a multi-choice test, a practical skills exam and a professional discussion. 

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

The practical elements of this apprenticeship will be undertaken at your workplace. The study part of this apprenticeship will be carried out at Printworks Campus.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required however a strong interest in working as a chef within the hospitality industry and a basic standard in English and maths is a must.

What's next

After successful completion of the Level 2 Standard you could progress onto our Level 3 Chef du Partie Standard or alternatively seek full employment with your workplace or in the sector.
