The Healthcare Support Apprenticeship is an integrated programme of knowledge and skills acquisition, developed alongside core behaviours expected of a competent worker operating in a regulated field. The award of the apprenticeship certificate will show the individuals competence in the role and enable progression to higher levels of skills development.

Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work for a real employer, earn a real salary and gain a real qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience.

How you will be assessed

Weekly day release in college or one to one delivery in the workplace.

You will be assessed on your working practice through observations and a portfolio of evidence.

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

All apprentices must be employed and working in a role that meets the competence requirements of the framework. Our experienced, qualified staff will support your staff to achieve their framework. Depending on the employer this apprenticeship can be delivered either in your workplace or you will attend college on day release/evening.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have GCSE A-E math and English or equivalent or achieve L1 at English and Math Initial Assessments to enrol onto the programme. If candidates do not achieve L1 support is available in college to upskill in these areas prior to enrolment onto the programme.

What's next

You could work in a variety of roles and settings that provide care and support, including, clinical support worker, healthcare assistant in hospitals, GP surgeries or hospices.
