Benefits/skills you will develop

An apprenticeship, in any industry or occupation, will help you develop a good routine in your daily life. Working full-time, attending college and completing a qualification in the workplace is a juggling act, but a rewarding one.

Throughout your career you will have to multitask, be organised and learn to use your initiative. Working on multiple projects during your apprenticeship will help you develop these skills. Before you know it, you will start to learn the importance of prioritising work, managing your day and knowing when to ask for help.

How you will be assessed

A wide range of assessment methods are used in the workplace. Evidence reflects how you have carried out the process relating to your competence.

For example: The process that you carry out could be recorded in an observation or witness testimony. Products relating to your competence could be minutes of a meeting, e mails, letters, manufacturing instructions, photos and health and safety checks.

Different forms of questioning are carried out on an on-going part of the assessment process.

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

The practical elements of this apprenticeship will be undertaken at your workplace. The study part of this apprenticeship will be carried out at Technology Campus. You may also need to attend further functional skills classes if you do not have a minimum of GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and maths.

You will be observed in your workplace every 6-8 weeks by an assessor who will carry out a review of your competence.

Entry requirements

GCSE grade 4 (C) in English and Maths is preferable, if you do not have this you must have at least a Level 1 in Functional Skills in Maths and English and a successful initial assessment at college.
