Qualified Accounting Technicians are the skilled support staff working in accounting and finance. Possible jobs in this area range from accounts clerks to financial managers working in the public sector, industry and commerce, and accounting practices.

This apprenticeship provides the knowledge and skills to perform the tasks demanded by the accountancy sector; it offers you the chance to gain a useful and practical qualification whilst working in industry. The accountancy apprenticeship is based on work experience and achieving competence to nationally agreed standards so that you and your employer have full confidence in the qualification.

What you learn

Through studying five core modules and putting them into practice, you will will develop practical skills in:

  • Preparing and recording financial documentation
  • Principles of recording and processing financial transactions
  • Maintaining and reconciling the cash book
  • Processing ledger transactions and extracting a trial balance
  • Basic principles of costing
  • Computerised Accounting
  • Work effectively in accounting and finance

How you will be assessed

Your progress and achievements are assessed through online tests covering all of the competencies.

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

The practical elements of this apprenticeship will be undertaken at your workplace. The study part of this apprenticeship will be carried out at Park Lane Campus.

Entry requirements

You will need a level 2 qualification in English and maths (or equivalent). Given the vocational nature of this qualification, you will be asked to attend an interview and skills tests to determine the most appropriate level apprenticeship for you.

What's next

After successful completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship you could progress onto our Level 3 Credit Controller/Debt Collection Apprenticeships or alternatively seek full employment with your workplace or in the sector.
