This course is the second year of the Extended Diploma in Science; the course design develops practical and theoretical knowledge further and prepares learners for university study or employment in the different areas of science.

You will develop scientific practical techniques and learn about working in the science industry. You will also build on study skills for science such as communication, analytical, evaluative and research skills.

What you learn

During this year, you will be studying the remaining mandatory units:

Unit 5 - Principles and Applications of Science II,

Unit 6 - Investigative Project

Unit 7 - Contemporary Issues in Science.

Plus the remaining 4 optional units.

How you will be assessed

There are two externally assessed units, unit 5 and unit 7 and the remaining units are assessed via coursework, practical assessments and presentations.

Entry requirements

Complete Foundation Diploma.

5 GCSE’s at 4 or C and above, including Maths, English and Science.

A Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science will gain you access to many University courses. In fact, 95% of Universities accept this qualification.
