During this year, you will be studying:
Unit 1 – Principles and Applications of Science I
Unit 2 – Practical Scientific Procedures and techniques
Unit 3 – Science Investigation Skills
Unit 4 – Laboratory Techniques and their Application
Plus 2 optional units.
There are two examined units, which are assessed externally, unit 1 and unit 3, and the remaining units will be assessed via coursework, practical assessments and presentations.
5 GCSE’s at 4 or C and above, including Maths, English and Science.
Level 2 Diploma in Science at Merit.
A Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science will gain you access to many University courses. In fact, 95% of Universities accept this qualification.
If you know what you would like to study in future, check the course requirements by looking at University websites or www.ucas.com You can progress to degree courses in Medical Science, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Radiotherapy, Biochemistry and many more. Remember to check the GCSE requirements too, to make sure you meet these.
You may also choose to apply for a Foundation Degree, either at University or one of those offered by our HE department at Leeds City College.
