During the programme you will gain an understanding of business and IT covering the following areas of study:
- Study skills, research and team working
- Introduction to business
- Database software
- Spreadsheet software
- Presentation software
You will also have the opportunity to improve your employability skills by working on your interview skills and taking part in work experience.
You will also study maths and English GCSEs so that you are ready to take the exams at the end of the year.
Assessment is through a portfolio of work and practical assignments. Your course teacher will guide you through the assignment criteria for each area of study and make sure you are prepared to achieve your best.
Students wishing to enrol on to this programme must be 19 years or over and have a genuine interest in studying business and IT with a view to going to university.
You will have at least four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) and you must be willing to take GCSEs in maths and English if these have not already been achieved at grade 4 (C) or above.
You must be willing to take part in a work experience placement.
You must be able to work independently and to agreed deadlines.
You will be interviewed to ascertain your suitability for the programme.
After successfully completing this course, you will be able to move on to an access to higher education diploma level 3 which will provide you with the entry requirements for university study.
The programme will provide you with the fundamentals of business and IT which will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for future higher level study.
