Access to HE courses aim to prepare mature students (19+) for entry onto Higher Education. These courses are ideal for mature learners who want to develop the skills and knowledge needed university level study.

This specialist Health Science Professions pathway is a one year, full-time course designed to prepare students for university. The study skills units will help you to develop your academic writing style, presentation skills, numeracy and research skills.The core modules in biology, health education and psychology will give you the underpinning knowledge needed for university and a career in the health science professions.

This course has been developed for busy adult learners with work and childcare commitments. Delivery of the course is mixture of class-based activities and online learning. You will attend college two days per week. In-class activities will involve lectures, group work, peer learning and project-based tasks. You will also have access to online course materials via Google Classrooms, which can be accessed via your laptop, tablet and mobile phone.

Assessment includes coursework and exams in two semesters over the year. Some

Entry requirements

You need GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C or above (Grade 4 or above if you did your GCSEs from 2017). Equivalent qualifications may be considered.

Additional requirements: Successful interview and demonstration of appropriate sector care values.

The Diploma is designed to give successful students an alternative entry qualification and route to many Higher Education courses both locally and nationally including nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, radiography, and other health based subjects.
