Access to Higher Education
These courses are for students over 19 years of age (by 31st August in the year the course starts). They provide an alternative route for those who would like to go on to study in Higher Education but who left school without formal qualifications at level three, such as A Levels.
These courses are taught over two days or two evenings to allow you to combine your current commitments with returning to study. In addition to face to face teaching, you will be expected to commit time to online learning and assessment via coursework.
Valuable skills you may have acquired during your time employed or skills learnt from other activities are taken into account. You should be motivated, enthusiastic and demonstrate the potential to succeed in your studies.
With highly experienced staff and a strong track record within Higher Education, the Access to HE programmes are the first choice for adult who wish to make the commitment to realise their long held ambitions.
Many students on Access courses go on to study at university, at Leeds City College's University Centre in particular, with a large number finding fulfilling new careers and experiencing life-changing opportunities. Following your application to an Access HE course you are strongly advised to research the individual entry requirements for the HE courses and universities you wish to progress to.
Funding for Access HE courses is available via student loans. For those of you who progress to university and pass your degree, the loan cost of the Access HE Diploma will be written off. Further information on this can be given at interview.
