There are five units on this course. Learners will need to study at home as part of this course to gain the knowledge elements of the units as class contact time will focus on the application of this knowledge theoretically and practically. The home study will be supported by online resource materials and in class notes.
All 5 units are mandatory to pass the qualification.
- Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
- Principles of health and fitness
- Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
- Professional practice in sports massage
- Sports massage treatments
The course is assessed by an externally set multiple choice exam, practical assessment and completion of a portfolio.
To support the learners on this course there will be extensive online resources to support learning. Students will also be able to complete all course work online.
There are no formal prerequisites for learners wishing to embark on the Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy (QCF). All applicants will be interviewed prior to enrolment. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in sport massage and a commitment to completing this as an evening class.
On completion of the course, learners will be able to gain employment and obtain insurance to work as a sports massage therapist.
Students could also progress onto one of the following courses:
- Level 4 Certificate in Sports massage therapy (QCF)
- Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (Gym-based exercise)
