This is the first of four semesters preparing you for the official certification CCNA Routing and Switching 200-120.

With the CCNA you will be able to pursue a career in networking and inter-networking design, implementation and administration. You may continue to study towards the CCNP certification with us, or you may choose to specialise into areas such as CCNA Security.

What you learn

  • Understand and describe the devices and services used to support communications in data networks and the Internet
  • Understand and describe the role of protocol layers in data networks
  • Understand and describe the importance of addressing and naming schemes at various layers of data networks in IPv4 and IPv6 environments
  • Design, calculate and apply subnet masks and addresses to fulfil given requirements in IPv4 and IPv6 networks
  • Explain fundamental Ethernet concepts such as media, services and operations
    Build a simple Ethernet network using routers and switches
  • Use Cisco command-line interface (CLI) commands to perform basic router and switch configurations
  • Utilise common network utilities to verify small network operations and analyse data traffic

How you will be assessed

Each of the four CCNA semesters has its own final theory and practical skills test. Both must be passed with a score of at least 70% before you may continue on to the next.

Online materials are provided for studying at home but attendance at each weekly session is compulsory, especially as the course has a strong practical element utilising our Cisco labs.

There are no formal entry requirements, but good English skills are essential.

What's next

As well as the progression to CCNA 2, we also offer ‘An Introduction to TCP/IP’ – a supplementary 1 day course to support with that area of CCNA.

With the CCNA you will be able to pursue a career in networking and inter-networking design, implementation and administration. You may continue to study towards the CCNP certification with us, or you may choose to specialise into areas such as CCNA Security.
