This is one of three courses that lead towards the Cisco Certified Network Professional qualification.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP®) certification validates the ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions.

The CCNP certification is appropriate for those of you with at least one year of networking experience and you are ready to advance your skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Once you have achieved CCNP you will have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as a network technician, support engineer, systems engineer or network engineer.

How you will be assessed

Each of the three CCNP courses has its own final theory and practical skills test. Both must be passed with a score of at least 65% before you may continue on to the next.

Online materials are provided for studying at home but attendance at each weekly session is advised, especially as the course has a strong practical element utilising our Cisco labs.

Entry requirements

You must have passed the 4 CCNA semesters with a score of at least 70% or have passed the official CCNA certification exam.

CCNP Route and CCNP Switch can be taken in any order and are prerequisites to the final course CCNP T-Shoot.

What's next

It is expected that on completion of the CCNP Switch course you will sit the 642-813 SWITCH exam at a Pearson Vue test centre.  You can then either take CCNP Route or progress on to CCNP T-Shoot.

You may then wish to enhance your skills with the CCNA Security course or maybe look at server related courses such as Microsoft or VMware.
