CCNP Route (Evening) Certificate Element

This is one of three courses that lead towards the Cisco Certified Network Professional qualification.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP®) certification validates the ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions.

The CCNP certification is appropriate for those of you with at least one year of networking experience and you are ready to advance your skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Once you have achieved CCNP you will have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as a network technician, support engineer, systems engineer or network engineer.

What you learn

  • Planning and documenting the configuration and verification of routing protocols and their optimization in enterprise networks.
  • Identifying the technologies, components and metrics of EIGRP used to implement and verify EIGRP routing in diverse, large-scale internetworks based on requirements.
  • Identifying, analysing, and matching OSPF multi area routing functions and benefits for routing efficiencies in network operations in order to implement and verify OSPF routing in a complex enterprise network.
  • Implementing and verifying a redistribution solution in a multi-protocol network that uses Cisco IOS features to control path selection and provides a loop-free topology according to a given network design and requirements.
  • Evaluating common network performance issues and identifying the tools needed to provide Layer 3 path control that uses Cisco IOS features to control the path.
  • Implementing and verifying a Layer 3 solution suing BGP to connect an enterprise network to a service provider.

Benefits / Skills you will develop

Those who achieve CCNP have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as network technician, support engineer, systems engineer or network engineer.

How you will be assessed

Each of the three CCNP courses has its own final theory and practical skills test. Both must be passed with a score of at least 65% before you may continue on to the next.

Attendance at each weekly session is advised, especially as the course has a strong practical element utilising our Cisco labs.

Entry requirements

You must have passed the 4 CCNA semesters with a score of at least 70% or have passed the official CCNA certification exam. CCNP Route and CCNP Switch can be taken in any order and are prerequisites to the final course, CCNP T-Shoot.

What's next

It is expected that on completion of the CCNP Route course you will sit the 642-902 ROUTE exam at a Pearson Vue test centre.  You can then either take CCNP Switch or progress on to CCNP T-Shoot.

You may then wish to enhance your skills with the CCNA Security course or maybe look at server related courses such as Microsoft or VMware.
