Projects will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding. For practical assessments, you will be observed and assessed by an experienced tutor.
External examination papers will assess your knowledge and understanding. This applies to the following units:
- Health and safety
- Applying makeup
- The art of dressing hair
- Providing eyelash and eyebrow treatment
- Client consultation for hair services
- Shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp
- Colouring hair using temporary colour
As part of this qualification, you will be required to produce a portfolio of evidence. This will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt throughout the course.
Entry requirements are a minimum of four GCSE grades 9-4 (A–C) including maths or English.
We welcome applications from mature candidates who may not meet the academic criteria. Candidates in this category will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course and will be asked to provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application.
After successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress on to a variety of programmes depending on your career ambitions.
You will also have the necessary skills to progress on to further study for the Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair, and Media Makeup course.
