Daniel Smith- Apprentice Warehouse Operative
Daniel currently works as an apprentice Warehouse Operative.
First Class Post took Daniel Smith on under the Level 2 Warehousing & Storage framework.
Daniel said: ‘I chose to work for First Class Post as I got a good first impression of the staff and the workplace during my interview. It’s a local business and very accessible.
Nigel Horner, Works Manager, said ‘We decided to take on an apprentice as we wanted to give an opportunity to a young person to gain practical knowledge and experience in our company. Based on first impressions we knew that Daniel was the right person for this job. His work ethic is brilliant and his efforts have led to a much smoother operation in our warehouse. ‘
This has benefitted Daniel as it has given him confidence:'I’ve learned new skills that I can use further in my career, such as customer relations. I’m really glad that I chose to do an apprenticeship - I’m gaining practical experience and first-hand knowledge of the job and the industry. I’m learning while I’m earning too, which is a bonus!’
Nigel says that he would certainly recommend apprenticeships and Leeds City College to other companies. ‘We’ve tried apprenticeships before and they really work - you don’t know what employee talent you’re potentially missing out on until you try an apprenticeship scheme!’
