Health and Well-being Services

Health and Well-being are high on the agenda at Leeds City College; we want our students to be happy and healthy, as well as enjoying and achieving on their chosen course of study. A range of service and activities are available to students and staff.
College Xtras
Student Liaison Officers and Students’ Union Officers work together to organise a wide range of social and sporting activities for students. From film clubs to fitness classes we aim to have something for everyone!
Sports
We have a full range of sports courses available, or sports activities to fit around your other studies including football, basketball, rugby, badminton, table tennis, martial arts, fitness classes, etc. We are a member of British Colleges’ Sport Leagues and have links with the Leeds Rhinos, Keighley Cougars, Leeds United, and Bradford City FC and are also a Football Focus College, one of only three in the country!
Speak to one of the Student Liaison Officers or a Students’ Union officer to find out what’s available.
Counselling
The College offers a free, professional counselling service to students and staff. For more information or to make an appointment, please email: counselling@leedscitycollege.ac.uk
For students studying and former Joseph Priestley centres email jhaghverdi@joseph-priestley.ac.uk
Health Services
The College works closely with the local primary care trusts; a number of College staff, mainly Student Liaison Officers, have been trained in the C-card scheme (registration for free condoms to under 25s) and pregnancy testing. In addition, through some pilot funding, currently a full Contraceptive and Sexual Health (CaSH) clinic is available as follows:
| Horsforth Campus | Wednesdays 11:00 – 14:00 | t: 01132 162430 |
| Park Lane Campus | Tuesdays and Fridays 11:00- 14:00 | t: 01132 162190 |
| Thomas Danby | Mondays and Thursdays 11:00 – 14:00 | t: 0113 2846405 |
| Joseph Priestley Campus | Kwame Yempew | t: 0113 3076 183 |
Outside of these times and at campuses where there is no CaSH clinic, students are signposted to appropriate services and to the Leeds Sexual Health web site.
Awareness Campaigns and Tutorials
Throughout the college year there is a series of awareness campaigns and themed weeks, many of which revolve around health and well-being themes, including Mental Health Week, Healthy Living, etc.
