Performing / Production Arts
Leeds City College is very lucky to have excellent performing arts departments at the Park Lane Campus and Thomas Danby Campus.
Courses are taught by highly qualified professionals with experience of working in theatre, television, radio, opera and dance – in fact, virtually every aspect of the performing arts!
Performing Arts students have access to fantastic facilities which include (at the Park Lane Campus) a fully-functioning theatre with sound system, staging, lighting rigs, box office, costume department with tailoring area, workshop for creating stage sets, sprung dance floor, and access to other creative arts facilities such as the TV studio.
Former students have included famous names such as: Kay Mellor (screenwriter: Band of Gold, Fat Friends), Gaynor Faye (actress, daughter of Kay Mellor: Coronation Street, Fat Friends) and Angela Griffin (actress: Coronation Street, Holby City, Cutting It).
Students have been employed at places including Leeds Grand Theatre and the Edinburgh Festival.
We have also now introduced a range of courses which not only focus on the performance side of theatre but on a host of backstage skills including costume / make-up / lighting / sound operation etc.
