AS & A Levels

With a whole host of AS and A2 Level courses on offer, why not look to continuing your academic studies with us?
Join over 400 students who are currently studying at the College on a wide range of subjects – a selection of 20 AS Level subjects and 18 A2 Level subjects, providing you with further choice and opportunities in a more adult environment.
All courses are taught at the A-Level Centre, which is part of the Park Lane Academy building at Park Lane Campus and includes state-of-the-art classrooms, a sprung dance floor, gym, and recently refurbished science labs – all to enhance your learning experience.
And our provision just keeps on getting better – 77% of all A Level subjects (including Accounting, Art, Business Studies, Dance, English, Film Studies, History, Italian, Law, Mathematics, Media Studies, Sociology, Psychology and Photography) had a 100% pass rate in 2009.
Length of courses
1 year for AS-Level, followed by a year for A-Level (i.e. A2) study.
Qualifications needed to start
For a 3 AS-Level programme you normally need 5 GCSEs at Grade C in appropriate subjects and an average GCSE score of 5.0 (i.e. grade C). For a 4 AS-Level programme you normally need seven GCSEs at Grade B or above in appropriate subjects and an average GCSE score of 6.0 or
above (grade scores: A= 7, B= 6, C = 5, D = 4, E = 3, F = 2, G = 1).
For some AS and A-Level courses you may need GCSE grades higher than C in specific subject areas in addition to the basic requirement – see individual subject entries for details.
Full-time students can take 2, 3, or 4 AS-Levels followed by A-Levels (i.e. A2).
Part time? We interview you to assess whether you are likely to succeed on the course(s).
Have you heard about the International Baccalaureate (IB)? The IB is an alternative to A levels that is welcomed by universities and allows you to study a broad range of subjects.
