Volunteering & Charity
At Leeds City College we are involved with an assortment of fundraising activities for various charities.
Across all of our Campuses, we are heavily involved with promotions for Comic Relief, Children in Need and the Breast Cancer Campaign (as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October).
As individual Colleges before our recent merger, there has been fundraising events for charities including Marie Curie Cancer Care, Jeans for Genes, Salvation Army, Mencap, Asthma UK, Stop Hate UK, Leeds Cares, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the PDSA to name but a few!
Hospitality students at the Thomas Danby Campus have recently been fundraising for young people with diabetes and hosted a charity dinner at Rudding Park.
In 2009, the College entered a team of over 115 runners (made up from staff and students from across all the campuses of Leeds City College) in the Jane Tomlinson ‘Run for All 10K’.
After collecting an award-winning £10,000 in 2008, the new merged College is hoping to make even more money for worthy causes including Jane’s Appeal charities.
As individual colleges, we have raised tens of thousands of pounds over recent years and donated hundreds of hours of time through volunteering activities; we hope that together – as Leeds City College – we can make an even bigger difference.
