If you are 16 -18 and do not achieve the entry qualifications for your chosen course, we will often consider your school Individual Learning Plan (ILP) or Record of Achievement as alternative evidence of your suitability for the course. If you left school a year or two ago, we will also take account of your experience since then.
More information is available to Parents in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section.
Please check individual higher education courses for specific entry requirements.
We welcome applications from those who have few formal qualifications but a wealth of work and life experience, commitment and ability. Applicants in this group may be invited to interview or asked to provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application
All students must demonstrate before starting the course that they have the required literacy skills to complete the course. Students are also made aware that it maybe a requirement of progression on to a top up degree that they have both English and Mathematics GCSE at Grade C. Students who do not have these qualifications have the opportunity to gain them whilst at college.
Candidates applying for a place on a “top-up” programme will need to have passed all modules of a relevant Foundation Degree or HND.
Leeds City College will consider applications from students below the age of 16, as part of the Early College Transfer System, but parents/carers should note that there is currently no government funding and therefore they will be responsible for full fees. We have a Schools Links programme and established relationships with many of our local secondary schools. Call for more details.
Increasing numbers of adults are choosing to attend Leeds City College. We will assess your experience since last leaving education.
You can apply for many courses without any formal qualifications. We simply interview you to assess whether you are likely to succeed and benefit from the course.
