CRB Checks

The rules on CRB checking are in place to protect children and vulnerable adults and as such are carried out only for courses which require you to carry out work placements with these groups.
All students applying for Childcare, Health & Social Care and some sport programmes will have to complete a CRB check which is required by employers you will go on placement with. In most cases, other courses don’t need a CRB check.
If the CRB check comes back showing offences have been committed, the College will carry out a risk assessment to determine whether the offence may cause problems for you. If this is the case you will be advised about the implications and always offered some guidance or alternatives. Not all offences are a risk so the return of a CRB check may not impact on your choice.
All CRB information is confidential and only those who need to know will be given the information.
If you are worried that something in your past may impact on your choice of career or choice of course, we can provide confidential advice.
