Leeds City College is today celebrating the success of its students as this year’s A Level results are announced.

Students at the College have achieved an overall A Level pass rate of 98% in a wide range of subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Psychology, Sociology and Media.

Among this year’s achievers are eight students who received the new A* grade introduced this year, along with others who scored straight A grades in all their subjects. The College’s A Level Urdu course saw exceptional results with nearly the whole class receiving A* or A grades.

A Level subjects including Accounting, Art, Biology, Dance, English, Film Studies, Geography, History, Italian, Media Studies, Physics and Sociology, had a 100% pass rate. There was also a substantial increase in the number of A-C grades which rose from 60% to 69%.

John Paterson, Head of Leeds City College’s A Level Centre, said:
The College is delighted with the continued success of our A level students and to see another excellent year for final results.

These results reflect the talent as well as hard work and commitment of our students as well as the high level of teaching and support they receive from our team of dedicated and experienced tutors.

We hope our students celebrate their well deserved success and move forward in life to achieve their full potential,” John added.

Student Oblation Mkuhlani, 19, was delighted with his results – A in Business Studies and Law and B in Media – and is now looking forward to going onto study Law at the University of Liverpool.

This is just amazing – I worked so hard for the last two years and it has been all been worth it,” he said.

Also celebrating was Rhian Holland and friends who all got the grades they needed to go onto their chosen universities. Rhian, 18, was awarded one of the new A* grades in Sociology, along with B in Photography and D in Biology, and plans to take a gap year before applying to university to do nursing.

Leeds City College offers over 20 AS and A2 Level subjects at its A Level Centre, which has a long established reputation for A Level provision in the Leeds area.

More than 400 students study at Leeds City College’s A Level Centre at its Park Lane Campus, which includes state of the art classrooms, a sprung dance floor, gym, early years and health & social care suites and a mock air cabin, to enhance students’ learning experience.
