Leeds Enterprise Network Going Strong!

8 March 2010 | news archive

Leeds Enterprise network hosted its second successful event this week bringing together 70 budding entrepreneurs from across Leeds to network and showcase their businesses. The Leeds Enterprise Network brings together expertise from business start-up services based at the University of Leeds (Spark) QU2 at Leeds Metropolitan University and the Unit at Leeds City College, all of whom play an important role in supporting the growth of early stage businesses in Leeds and surrounding areas.

The Guest Speaker for the evening was Carl Hopkins, best known for his appearance on Channel Four’s The Secret Millionaire. Carl is one of Yorkshire’s leading entrepreneurs and marketing ‘gurus’, with 25 years experience in marketing and business.

Entrepreneurs were inspired to hear the story of Carl’s business success, and also to find out more about how Carl had been able to make a difference to the lives of people he came across when taking part in the Secret Millionaire show. Carl’s advice for business success was to be confident in what you are doing as generally the people around you want to support you and see you succeed.

Manager of QU2, Katie Rigarlsford, said “Events like these offer a great opportunity for businesses from across Leeds to expand their business networks. Carl has provided some really useful advice for us tonight, included reminding businesses to look at how they can go the extra distance to add value for their customers, and to make sure that you can express clearly what your business has to offer.

Look out for the next Leeds Enterprise Network coming up in May at Leeds Metropolitan University, or contact Katie on k.rigarlsford@QU2Leeds.co.uk to register for your free place now.
