Hospitality and Culinary Arts students have dished up a donation of £2,130 for Leeds charity St George’s Crypt following a successful fundraising evening they organised at Farthings Restaurant, Thomas Danby Campus.
Students from the Level 3 Professional Chef’s course created a special three course menu for the evening on 28 January.
It included smoked salmon cannelloni, roast leg of pork, spare rib and black pudding bon bon and a trio of desserts, which the students cooked on the night with assistance from tutor Karen Young.
Students from the Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership served front of house to guests which included College staff and the Crypt’s CEO, Chris Fields, alongside members of the public.
Programme leader on the Hospitality Diploma, Amanda Nicholson-Hirst, who helped the students organise the event, says: “The students worked very hard creating the menu and putting together the event, and they are proud to be supporting such a good cause.”
The money raised from the dinner, plus a charity auction which was held after the meal, will be used by St George’s Crypt to help support its work with homeless, vulnerable and disadvantaged people. The Crypt has been undergoing extensive refurbishment which is due to be completed this year.
