Shoppers sampled the talents of the chefs of the future as Leeds City College served up some fine dining in the heart of the city as part of the recent Leeds Loves Food festival.
Students and staff from the College’s Hospitality & Culinary Arts Academy based at Thomas Danby Campus prepared and cooked two signature dishes, using some of the region’s finest ingredients, for people to enjoy from its pop-up restaurant located in Briggate on Saturday, July 4th.
The Lord of Mayor of Leeds Coun Judith Elliott joined close to 400 diners who enjoyed the taster menu of belly pork with summer vegetables, followed by a celebration of strawberries.
“The restaurant was a tremendous showcase for Yorkshire produce as well as the talents of students and staff at the College – the two dishes were absolutely stunning and the presentation was superb. Events like this help to reaffirm the College’s reputation as the jewel in the crown for hospitality and culinary arts provision,” said Coun Elliott.
Curriculum Manager David Sowden said: “We were delighted to be involved in the Leeds Loves Food event, showcasing the culinary skill of our students, who keen to show their talents to the local community.”
