The Transnational Funding & Initiatives Team who co-ordinate mobility placements and partnership projects are extremely effective at organising European opportunities. In 2016, the College was awarded the Erasmus+ Mobility Charter Certificate in recognition of  its commitment to transnational mobility and the consistently high quality of the service.

Between 2013 & 2015, the Transnational Funding & Initiatives Team received funding for 5 VET (Vocation, Education & Training) mobility projects. These were funded through the Leonardo da Vinci Lifelong Learning Programme. This funding gave LCC the capacity to work with 30 partners in more than 15 European countries. In total, the projects were worth over €1,000,000.

LCC is currently funded by the European Erasmus+ education programme to deliver Key Action 1 (KA1) vocational education and training (VET) mobility work placements. Our current project entitled, 'The Sky is the Limit: Recognising the Potential of VET learners through Engagement in European Mobility. will see 224 students travelling  to 27 partner organisations across 13 countries mentioned above to complete a work experience placement in their curriculum area. They will be supported by 51 accompanying members of staff and an additional 30 staff will complete staff training activities and under continuing professional development courses.

We are delighted to announce that LCC’s bid for its 2017-19 KA1 project entitled, ‘Planes, Trains and Mobilities’ has been accepted. It will enable 203 LCC students from 14 curriculum schools to undergo a variety of work placement opportunities in 15 countries, hosted by 27 partners. 25 Staff will participate in Staff Trainer Activities (STA) and 50 staff will participate as accompanying tutors.

LCC aims for internationalisation to become a cross-college theme to be implemented in all aspects of the curriculum and student life. We are currently a confirmed partner on the Erasmus+ KA2 project entitled 'First Things First' led by Porvoo Vocational College in Finland. The goal of this project is to promote safe work methods, chemical and cosmetics safety and legislation, ergonomics, knowledge about microbiology, allergies and allergens through analysis and cooperation of 4 partner colleges situated in The Netherlands, Finland, Spain and Estonia.

Students are supported to participate in these placements but have to meet the selection criteria of their curriculum area. Students are accompanied by a member of staff in the first week of the placement and for the second and third week are expected to fulfil their placement requirements with the support of the European host.

European Funding fully supports the travel, accommodation and living costs for each participant.
