About the course

Students will build on practical knowledge and skills to be able to work in a competent manner within a professional catering environment. Students will learn to prepare and cook a wide range of starters, main courses and desserts. Learn about health, safety and hygiene, product knowledge, current trends and dietary requirements.

What and how do you learn?

  • A 2 hour Theory lesson covering commodities, current practices, health and safety issues.
  • A hour practical session to learn and develop the required skills for the NVQ Qualification.
  • Students will be assessed on a weekly basis and possibly through Industrial Testimonials to complete the NVQ Portfolio.

Qualifications/experience required to start

No formal qualifications. Students must be currently employed in the catering industry or have relevant catering experience.
