About the course

This course is designed for a wide age group, particularly attracting over 19s.

What you learn

Students will cover all aspects of Ladies Hairdressing and related studies, including:

  • Health and Safety
  • Setting/Blow Waving
  • Basic Cutting
  • Perming
  • Colouring
  • Working as a Team

Barbering, Drying, Cutting Facial Hair, African-type Hair can be taken as options, by agreement with the tutor.

The development of communication, numeracy and IT will be integrated into the programme.

The opportunity to take part in competitions and European Exchange is available to all students.

Qualifications needed to start

Students should have some previous industrial hairdressing experience (at least the equivalent of one week’s experience in a hairdressing salon prior to interview) or be working full or part time in a salon. There is a six week in

What’s next

On completion of this course, students may choose to progress onto one of the following:

  • Progression to NVQ Level 3 in Ladies Hairdressing
  • Work in the hairdressing industry in the UK or overseas
  • Theatre work, cruise ships, TV and film work
  • Salon work in hospitals, holiday complexes and hotels
  • Demonstrating products and techniques for hairdressing companies
