About the course
This qualification has been developed with the primary aim of stimulating your interest in the fashion retail industry. It also aims to equip you with the skills, insight, knowledge and understanding to practically apply theory in the workplace in order to deliver a top quality customer experience in a fast moving environment. The highest grade on the course will gain you 160 UCAS points. If you are 16 you will study this course over two years and take additional units to gain extra qualifications. If you are 17 you can study the course over the course of one year.
What will I learn?
During the course you cover units such as;
- Team management skills for Fashion Retail.
- Understanding factors influencing the Fashion Retail Environment.
- Planning and developing ranges for Fashion Retail.
- Designing visual merchandising displays for Fashion Retail.
- Developing Fashion Retail brands.
- Promotional activities in Fashion Retail.
- Creating digital image presentations for Fashion Retail.
- Understanding the evolution of Fashion Retailing.
- Preparing for personal progression in Fashion Retail.
What skills will I gain from this course?
On this course you will develop the study skills to enable you to progress to university. If you want to enter employment you will gain many skills, which would be useful to an employer in the Fashion Retail industry.
How will I be assessed?
There are no exams on the course, you are assessed through a series of practical assignments and are given continuous feedback on your progress throughout the course.
What are the entry requirements?
You need to be 17 years of age or over and have the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above ideally including Mathematics and/or English or equivalent (L2 Functional Skills).
- Higher Diploma (which is equivalent to 7 GCSEs at Grades A* – C.
- NVQ2 or level 2 Diploma at Merit grade with ideally Maths and/or English at minimum Grade C or equivalent (L2 Functional Skills).
For students without the above, relevant work experience will be taken into account.
About the tutor(s)
All the tutors on the course are qualified teachers. The majority come from a variety of working backgrounds in retail and fashion retail. They are able to bring this experience into your lessons to make them varied and more interesting.

Future Opportunities
Successful students can progress on to Higher Education courses such a degree or foundation degrees in fashion retail, retail management. Alternatively you could enter employment in the retail sector in a number of positions.
